Toronto Zoo

We did a surprise visit to the Toronto Zoo as a "last chance to see the red pandas" thing in 2011. Of course, we also saw some other animals =)

Panda noms

You have a body built for predation, but you decide to eat bamboo leaves as staple, supplemented with some fruit and maybe a lizard now and then. You're doing it wrong, panda. Although you are also doing it very cute.

This is a hot bear

Let's be serious for a moment: this is not what a polar bear pen is supposed to look like. Just putting an animal inside a fence is not taking your responsibilities as a zoo.

A kookaburra

If you're from Ozlandia, you hate these things as much as we hate city pidgeons (or, in Vancouver, city crows)

Catch fish, eat fish

Omnomnom

A blue lobster

Fun fact: the new Photoshop CC "camera shake reduce" filter is amazing for throught-the-glass aquarium shots.

Tree boa

My dad used to have one of these. They're always very pretty, but they don't particularly do much

A tucan

Trying some 1/3-1/3 subject cropping. The tucan is pretty, but the photo itself is more interesting to me for its element presence than the actual elements.

Also oh my god look at that beak lol.

Note: animals may nip

A bromeliad frog

Lazy bugger it was.

And then there was this guy

I wasn't sure what this was, so I figured it'd be called a waxy frog or something. Turns out, yes, that's what it is.

Waxy monkey tree frog.

Waterfall

Nothing all too special, just playing with S vs. A settings.

These hippos are a disgrace

Let's read the text, shall we? And then look at the picture? No respect, Toronto Zoo. No respect.

And a pigmy hippo!

It's so cute!

Also at least it had a wading pool...

A jet fighter

Zooooooom

This is a penguin

Can you see which one?
