Fresno Zoo

The Fresno Zoo is definitely a worthwhile trip if you're in the neighbourhood. It's not the biggest, but that means you can actually spend a day and cover everything instead of needing multiple days. And it's the best value for money zoo we've ever been to. You should go. Seriously.

The Fresno Chaffee Zoo

At $7 this Zoo is a steal. I'm dead serious, this zoo offers the kind of experience you'd expect to pay an arm and a leg for. Instead, it's the perfect little zoo.

The repite house

The Fresno Zoo has a pretty neat reptile house. There's a few snakes in there that I've not seen in any other zoo.

Bothriechis schlegelii

It's not hard to see why this snake is called the Eyelash Viper. So.. seductive..

A... lizard....?

Did I ever mention how I was going to take pictures of the labels, too? I apparently forgot to listen to that.

All manner of intentions

Anthropomorphocising is an amazing activity. That's just the scale structure. It's not really intent on anything. But it sure feels like it.

Bitis nasicornis

There are loads of Rhinoceros Viper subspecies out there, and they're all pretty.

Go on...

2014-04-22 10:46:41

We've all seen them before

but poison dart frogs (which really is a very strange name, given their existence is in no way dependent on being used for dart purposes) are still very striking

That is soooo fascinating!

Tell me more!

2014-04-22 10:49:11

Just kidding.

but only if you can spot me.

Sexy face is go!

Not even joking. Mere moments after this shot, sex ensued. Weird, chelonioid sex.

2014-04-22 11:09:22

Why so serious?

Because that's simply how scales evolved. Genetics is a harsh mistress, through an anthropomorphic lens.

Lupine yoga

You'll never be this stretchy

The red wolf

It's not actually red. It is, however, criticall endangered. Head over here for education.

2014-04-22 14:18:47

More red wolves?

Yeah. Nice to read up on.

Ever seen a motmot?

I hadn't. Certainly not a Blue crowned motmot.
