The Fresno Zoo is definitely a worthwhile trip if you're in the neighbourhood. It's not the biggest, but that means you can actually spend a day and cover everything instead of needing multiple days. And it's the best value for money zoo we've ever been to. You should go. Seriously.
At $7 this Zoo is a steal. I'm dead serious, this zoo offers the kind of experience you'd expect to pay an arm and a leg for. Instead, it's the perfect little zoo.
The Fresno Zoo has a pretty neat reptile house. There's a few snakes in there that I've not seen in any other zoo.
It's not hard to see why this snake is called the Eyelash Viper. So.. seductive..

Anthropomorphocising is an amazing activity. That's just the scale structure. It's not really intent on anything. But it sure feels like it.
There are loads of Rhinoceros Viper subspecies out there, and they're all pretty.

but poison dart frogs (which really is a very strange name, given their existence is in no way dependent on being used for dart purposes) are still very striking
